Nike’s Wildhorse 6 Trail Running Shoe is currently $40 off at Backcountry.
I’ve managed to keep my running regimen going these last couple weeks — despite multiple feet of snow — thanks to this shoe. It was originally designed for trail runners, with mud and roots in mind, but its features function just as well while running over slush and ice.
The Wildhorse 6 has an an anti-clog coating, a lugged rubber outsole meant to help you keep your balance, and reinforced mesh to keep the snow from soaking your socks. I’ve been wearing them for runs all throughout February, and I even brought them along for one lengthy hike in the Adirondacks last weekend.
They’re not going to make running in the snow easy, necessarily. You should know what you’re signing up for. But there’s hardware built into this shoe that your favorite marathon shoe doesn’t have. And because it’s Nike, there’s still a ton of cushioning to ensure you don’t need to end the day icing your Achilles heel.
Choose between five different colorways here. And note that Backcountry has expedited shipping options — might be worth calling these in ahead of the next storm.
