What do you get the greatest badminton player of all time to help him prepare for a historic third Olympic gold medal?
A watch that weighs as much as three shuttlecocks, apparently.
Made for Chinese superstar Lin Dan, the featherweight TimeWalker Pythagore Concept Watch from Montblanc weighs just 14.88 grams, making it one of the lightest mechanical timepieces to ever be created.
The watch’s case is made out of a combination of black DLC titanium, Kevlar, carbon and a captivating composite called ITR (Innovative, Technical, Revolutionary Resin) — the material is eight times lighter than steel and four times lighter than titanium.
The timepiece’s movement is a modern-day interpretation of the Minerva Pythagore movement designed in 1943, and it features alternating satin and grained finishes that add to the bridge’s three-dimensional aesthetic.
While wearing one won’t speed up your chances of qualifying for the Olympics, it certainly won’t slow you down any.
