Four romantic getaways for guys who suffer from V-Day amnesia

It’s not every year Valentine’s Day falls on a weekend.

Rarer still for it to fall on the weekend directly preceding the third Monday in February — aka President’s Day, aka a day that you probably won’t be working and thus will be expected to be out of town romancing your lady.

Which is exactly what’s on tap this year.

If you still haven’t booked a hotel, don’t fear: we won’t let you sleep in the doghouse. These four destinations will keep you in good stead. But hurry — bookings may be available, but they’re going fast.

Hotel Jerome, Aspen

The East Coast hasn’t seen much snow this season (outside of Jonas), so why not head to Colorado for some fresh powder and rustic-chic accommodations? Jerome is one of the village’s iconic spots for après-ski drinks and luxe lodgings. Enjoy a drink at the iconic J-Bar, outfitted with leather stools and vintage decor. Savor a bespoke cocktail before heading up to a room with Native American-inspired textiles and wooden decor. While the slopes are a bit of a trek, the hotel does provide a ski concierge to get you to and from the black diamonds.

Hassler Roma, Rome

The Eternal City is perpetually romantic and the Hassler Roma, one of the city’s iconic hotels, offers a special package for the holiday weekend. Guests enjoy breakfast in bed, fresh flowers and sweets upon arrival, as well as a special dinner at the Michelin-starred Imàgo restaurant. Rooms are modern, with black-and-white linens and pops of red throughout. Opt for a Grand Deluxe Forum Suite Forum, which has views of the famous Spanish Steps, a perfect spot for a late-night stroll.

L Hotel Seminyak, Bali

Bali is always on your mind, thanks to tranquil breezes, lush foliage and friendly locals. At the L Hotel Seminyak, a butler greets you upon arrival and rooms feature white linens and plush beds topped with tufted headboards. The L’s Valentine’s package includes a traditional Balinese massage as well as dinner at Lola, the hotel’s top-notch eatery. End your night at the Luna Roof Bar for a view of the thatch-roofed homes stretched out beneath you.

Strawberry Hill, Jamaica

The Caribbean is popular no matter the time of year. And while Jamaica can feel crowded at times, there are areas far from the madding crowds. Strawberry Hill is one such place. Set in the mountains, this boutique resort features only 12 Georgian-style cottages. Hand-carved detailing can be found throughout the grounds and the gardens lend themselves to marriage proposals. Rooms feature diaphanous mosquito netting and muted blue and green throws and pillows. The bar is a classic Hemingway-esque den of wood, dim light and rum bottles, and the tropical cocktails can’t be beat. Sit back, relax and toast all your friends stuck in winter’s snowy embrace back home. Or just concentrate on the one you’re with.
