Here Are the Jobs You Need If You’d Rather Be Traveling

So you like to travel? And you also like money? You have one main option in terms of your future employment: Welcome to the world of consulting, son.

It’s not hard to find a job that combines travel and a paycheck, whether you’re planning on going freelance from a distance or clocking in for a regular job every morning — just somewhere other than your hometown. The top gig on this list of the 15 best-paying jobs in travel fits rather squarely into this second category: management consulting. If you’re good at your job, you could work anywhere in the world your company sends you — especially if you focus on, say, international banking, rather than chicken farming (though we’d imagine that even even chicken farms, at this point in the evolution of global corporate farming practices, are pretty international.) This week Dubai, next week, Hong Kong — that sufficiently glamorous for you?

Of course, if you’re the sort of travel-minded soul who wants to see the world, rather than an Excel sheet, other choices must be made, even if it means less cash in hand. Travel writer comes in eighth on this list, below airline pilot but above pharmaceutical sales rep. Near the bottom: stage hand (on an hourly wage) and ski instructor. Take your pick: management consultant, at about $70K a year and up, plus a lot of work, or ski instructor, at around $20K a year, and an entirely different kind of work.

What sort of life do you want?
