So you want to travel the planet but you also want your home to come along with you. Enter The World, a giant residential superyacht. Stretching 644 feet with 12 decks, it offers 165 privately owned apartments, meaning you can circle the globe while still heading back to the same bed every night.
Of course, not everyone is there all the time. A majority of the 142 owners live on board only three to six months a year, keeping down the number of people onboard at a given time. Those who stay on all 12 months do truly see the world: In 2016, owners will journey from the southern tip of Argentina, up the South American coast, over to Africa, up to Europe, through the Suez Canal, along the Asian coast, and ultimately on to Australia.
The World offers many of the features you’d expect from an upscale voyage, including luxury shopping, fine dining restaurants. It also offers a variety of sports, including tennis, golf, and cricket; while films, lectures, and performances aim to keep passengers’ minds stimulated.
Residences include studios, one- and two-bedroom studios, two bedrooms, and three bedrooms. (The three-bedroom suite features a “gourmet kitchen,” three full bathrooms, and a veranda space.) Prices start at $1.6 million, while the three-bedroom costs $15 million (there are also annual ownership charges).
