Sir David Attenborough groupies rejoice – he will be lending his dulcet tones to a forthcoming documentary series from Netflix.
Emphasizing nature conservation, Our Planet is being created by Netflix in collaboration with Silverback Films and will be released in eight on-demand episodes.
Filmed over the course of four years by a 600-member crew in 50 countries, the show will focus on various endangered habitats and species and reveal “amazing sights on Earth in ways they’ve never been seen.”
Given that he’s previously voiced successful nature series like The Blue Planet and Planet Earth, the 92-year-old was a natural choice for Our Planet.
“Our Planet will take viewers on a spectacular journey of discovery showcasing the beauty and fragility of our natural world,” Attenborough said per Netflix. “Today we have become the greatest threat to the health of our home, but there’s still time for us to address the challenges we’ve created, if we act now. We need the world to pay attention. Our Planet brings together some of the world’s best filmmakers and conservationists, and I’m delighted to help bring this important story to millions of people worldwide.”
The doc series is set to be released on April 5, 2019.
