Filson is known for its wool and tin cloth jackets — beefy fabrics that can take a beating, even if you’re just wearing them for their aesthetic heft. But the outdoor outfitter also dabbles in the lightweight realm as well, and their superb Ultralight Jacket is currently $125 $95 off at Huckberry. (Editor’s note: After publishing, Huckberry increased the price from $70 to $100.)
What separates the Filson Ultralight Jacket from the companies who dominate this category is that their backwoods, hunting, into the wild style carries over into everything they do. In this layer, yes, you’ve got the 60g PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation for warmth paired with a ripstop nylon shell, but you’ve also got Filson’s signature olive and spruce colors and cotton Moleskin lining in the collar and pockets.
If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in the states with a mild winter, then this can be your first and only jacket. If you’re dealing with some freezing temps, consider it a perfect addition to your many layers, and something you can transition into as the snow abates. But be forewarned, this is the only Filson gear currently discounted at Huckberry and as such won’t stay in stock long.
