Nothing epitomizes “dad” style quite like Eddie Bauer.
As in: ask anyone, say, under the age of 30 to slip into some Eddie Bauer gear, they’ll tell you that’s one carabiner too far.
But the Seattle-based outdoor brand is out to change that with the launch of EB Originals, a newly launched line paying homage to brand’s storied past by updating six archival pieces designed and once worn by Bauer himself.

And the brand is worthy of an homage — we wouldn’t have the down jacket if it weren’t for Eddie Bauer. It was after a near-death experience on a frigid fishing trip in January of 1935 in Western Washington where Bauer thought up the design for the very first down jacket. He called it the Blizzard-Proof Jacket, and in 1939, filed for a patent, which he received the next year.

It’s not the first time Bauer faced death. Dude’s got plenty of stories.
Today, the brand is recreating those stories via its most iconic pieces, updated here with slim cuts and technical fabrics for the modern outdoorsmen. In terms of aesthetic, design and color, the collection stays true to the brand’s nearly 100-year history, but with an appeal that should garner attention from not only a younger generation, but also city dwellers.
Head on over to Eddie Bauer to check out the full collection.
