We're not experts, but it certainly looks like a violation of NCAA rules

A video shot on the field after LSU’s 42-25 win over Clemson in Monday night’s College Football Playoff title game in New Orleans appears to show Odell Beckham celebrating the win handing out cash to players.

In what would seemingly be a violation of NCAA rules, the LSU alum can be seen handing out wads of bills to junior wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin.

Prior to LSU’s win, Beckham sent members of the team new Beats headphones along with a motivational message. That did not constitute an NCAA violation, but blatantly handing out cash after a win seems like it would probably fall into another category.

However, an LSU athletic official told The Advocate the money Beckham was handing out was not real.

In a separate video taken in the LSU locker room following the game, Beckham tells the camera he’s going to sell a pair of Jefferson’s cleats for $20,000. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, who played his college football at Ohio State, also makes an appearance in the video.

Jefferson, who had nine catches for 106 yards in the win over Clemson, had 18 touchdowns and more than 1,500 receiving yards for LSU this season and is projected to be a mid-round NFL draft pick if he declares for April’s draft. Should he decide to leave school, any discipline the NCAA hands down won’t really affect him.

Kirklin, who has also played defensive back for the Tigers and will probably return for his senior season, is probably less of an NFL prospect than Jefferson so any potential sanctions from the NCAA would be even worse for his draft stock.
