Amidst all the vitriol being spilled over Colin Kaepernick and the widespread NFL anthem protests, two Washington Redskins players have found an interesting way to wade into the conversation by doing so good.
Redskins’ running backs Keith Marshall and Rob Kelley were in a Sterling, Virginia, GameStop, when they saw 1o-year-old Jaden Watts wearing a Kaepernick jersey, reports the Washington Post.
So they decided to buy him an Xbox.
As the Post explains, the two players complimented Watts on his jersey after he walked into the store to ask how much an Xbox One was. Apparently, Watts had been saving up to buy one. So the players decided to “pitch in.”
The 10 year old is actually a Cowboys fans, but also a new fan of the 49ers and Kaepernick. As he told the Post, “I liked how [Kaepernick] wasn’t afraid to show what he thought. He risked getting fired, which was a big thing. I wouldn’t even do that, but he did, and I really like him for standing out. I don’t know if people agree with it, but he just doesn’t care what people say and that’s inspired me and probably inspired other people.”
