He may never catch Jack Nicklaus and his 18 major victories on the PGA Tour, but Tiger Woods continues to etch his name on pages in golf’s all-time record book.
On Monday in the final round of Japan’s Zozo Championship, Woods was able to hold off Hideki Matsuyama and win his 82nd career PGA Tour title.
In the last round at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, the 43-year-old shot a 3-under 67 to beat Matsuyama by three strokes.
With the win, Woods matched the PGA’s previous all=time winner Sam Snead, who notched the final victory of his Hall of Fame career in 1965.
“It’s a big number,” Woods said. “It’s a lot of consistency and doing it for a long period of time, Sam did it into his 50s and I’m in my early to mid-40s, so it’s about being consistent and doing it for a very long period of time. I’ve been very fortunate to have the career I’ve had so far. To have won this tournament in Japan, it’s just so ironic because I’ve always been a global player. I’ve always played all around the world, and to tie the record outside the United States is pretty cool.”
In addition to the U.S. and Japan, Woods has PGA Tour wins in Canada, Scotland, England, Ireland and Spain. Woods also has taken home other non-PGA titles in the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Germany and Thailand.

Woods has won 15 majors to date; with his most recent major victory coming at the 2019 Masters.
