Let’s state the obvious: Carli Lloyd is an excellent soccer player. She’s won virtually every award possible for an athlete in her field, including being honored by FIFA as the best women’s player in the world in 2015 and 2016. In addition to that, CONCACAF named this utterly brilliant goal as its Goal of the Year for 2015.

But a very different kick in a very different sport has earned Lloyd interest from the NFL. According to Sports Illustrated, this came after Lloyd visited a Philadelphia Eagles training camp and had a go at taking field goals from an increasing series of distances. Lloyd pulled off the impressive feat of kicking a field goal from 55 yards out.

Lloyd told Sports Illustrated that “[t]here’s been some interesting chatter about it.” And former Dallas Cowboys VP of player personnel Gil Brandt also went on the record as saying that Lloyd could be a valuable addition to the right team.

In the interview with Sports Illustrated, Lloyd was also open about her commitment to her current sport. “I’ve definitely got some inquiries, I’ve definitely got some people talking,” she told them. “Anything is possible but right now, I’m strictly a soccer player and we’ll see what the future holds.”

All in all, it’s been a good August for Lloyd. Sky Blue FC, the NWSL team for which she plays, recently set a franchise attendance record when they faced off against Megan Rapinoe’s Seattle Reign at Red Bull Arena last weekend.
