At 61-60, the San Francisco Giants are three games behind the 64-57 Los Angeles Dodgers in their division and 5.5 games out of a wildcard spot.
Though the odds are stacked against them, they aren’t going down without a fight, literally.
On Tuesday in LA, Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers threw a punch at Giants catcher Nick Hundley in the seventh inning to spark a brawl that cleared the benches for both of the longtime rivals.

“We’re competing on the field against a team we’re chasing,” Hundley said. “They’ve been scuffling a little bit and we’re trying to catch them. Obviously a nice rivalry. We had some words and pushed a couple times. There’s really not more to it than that.”
When the fracas was over, both Puig and Hundley were ejected by the umpires and the Giants went on to win the game 2-1.
This isn’t the first time Puig has stoked the rivalry between the two teams as he has previously gotten into it with Giants ace Madison Bumgarner a couple of times.
