The last time Peyton Manning was involved with the Carolina Panthers, he was beating them in the Super Bowl as a member of the Denver Broncos in his last game in the NFL.

Now, thanks to a reported offer from a bidder interested in buying the Panthers franchise, Manning could have an impact on Carolina once again – this time as a part owner of the team.

According to The Charlotte Observer, Charleston billionaire Ben Navarro offered Manning a spot in the ownership group that is currently bidding on the Carolina franchise and the former quarterback is still mulling whether he wants to come on as a limited partner.

Navarro’s group is believed to be the leading bidder for the Panthers at $2.6 billion, which would be a record price for an American pro sports franchise.

The Panthers have been for sale since January after allegations of sexual and racial misconduct by team owner and founder Jerry Richardson were exposed in a Sports Illustrated report.
