Where will the King end up? If it’s not already on your mind, it soon will be, as Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is headed to free agency before the 2018-19 season. Who will provide him with the worthiest castle?
To try to figure it out the whys and the wherefores, Sports Illustrated put together a panel consisting of Howard Beck, NBA writer, Bleacher Report; Candace Buckner, Wizards reporter, Washington Post; Tania Ganguli, Lakers reporter, Los Angeles Times; Adam Himmelsbach, Celtics reporter, Boston Globe; Frank Isola, NBA columnist, New York Daily News; Michael Lee, senior NBA writer, Yahoo Sports; and Marcus Thompson, columnist, The Athletic Bay Area.
Here’s what they came up with:
Beck: He’s unsure, but that the “general belief around the league” is that James might end up in a Los Angeles Lakers jersey.
Buckner: Lakers
Ganguli: Lakers, but he would likely have to be joined by another star there as well.
Himmelsbach: Stays in Cleveland.
Isola: “I think it’s going to be the Lakers but he should stay in Cleveland.”
Lee: Whereas at first Lee says Cleveland, he ends by saying “now that I think about it…it’s the Lakers.”
Thompson: Lakers
So there you have it. James is either staying in Cleveland or packing his bag for the City of Angels.
