We have to wait until spring for baseball season to start up again, but that doesn’t mean Citi Field stays vacant all winter; as a new New Yorker piece notes, the park’s Foxwoods Club was recently home to a wedding expo hosted by none other than Mrs. Met.
Mrs. Met reportedly swapped her usual game-day uniform for something a little more formal — a little black dress and wedges — as she showcased 80 vendors to diehard brides-to-be hoping for the perfect Mets-themed wedding. Everything from a Mets-themed magic act to an orange and blue sand ceremony was offered up, and fans looking to take it to the next level can actually get hitched at Citi Field when the team has road games. (“You want faith, you want spirituality, you want the Mets? I can do that,” one officiant told the publication.”) Ceremonies can’t be held on the field, but you and your beloved can stand atop the visitors’ dugout.
“Your guests sit in seats behind the dugout,” Manny Ortiz, a Mets event-sales coordinator, told The New Yorker. “There’s a static message that goes up on the screens — we can customize it for you.”
This was the first wedding expo hosted by Mrs. Met, and it drew approximately 500 fans.
