During the 2020-21 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets are going to party like it’s 1991.
Harkening back to the days when Drazen Petrovic wore red, white and blue on the court at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey, the Brooklyn Nets unveiled the Classic Edition throwback uniforms they’ll be wearing during the upcoming season on social media on Wednesday.
The uniforms feature a tie-dye pattern that was a fan favorite back when the Nets were still based on the other side of the Hudson River.
Originally the New Jersey Americans, the Nets wore red, white and blue starting in 1967 but switched to black and white when they moved to Brooklyn in 2012.
In addition to Petrovic, the Nets of the early ’90s had star players like Derrick Coleman and Kenny Anderson on the roster and reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons from 1992-94.
It appears as if the Mavericks are also going to wear a ’90s-inspired throwback jersey this season based on images that leaked onto the internet earlier this month.
