Like we said last time: Nothing’s better than a little bit of Bill Murray news. And when it has to do with his love of the Chicago Cubs, well, now we’re talking a whole new level of awesome.
According to Deadline, the enigmatic actor is in talks to portray another famous oddball: Cubs manager Joe Maddon. Murray would star as Maddon in Teammate, a movie based on an autobiography of the same name by retired Cubs catcher David Ross.
When told that Murray could be playing him in the movie, Maddon exclaimed to the Chicago Tribune, “Are you serious? That’s awesome. He’s much better looking than me. Second, it’s very flattering if it’s true.”
The movie would be about the 2016 season, which ended with the Cubs winning the World Series for the first time since 1908.
This would not be the first time Murray, best known for his comic acting, has portrayed a nonfictional person; in 2012, he portrayed U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Hyde Park on Hudson.
