Yesterday brought with it the news that NFL free agent Terrelle Pryor had been hospitalized after being stabbed on Friday night. Today, the story has taken a new turn: USA Today now reports that Pryor has been arrested and charged with assault.
That’s not the only arrest made in conjunction with the stabbing, however. “Shalaya Briston, whom witnesses said was in a relationship with Pryor, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and aggravated assault,” write Tom Schad and Chris Bumbaca.
Pittsburgh’s police department released some details on the incident, including this piece of information, which may shed some light on things: “After consultation with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, police have arrested two people believed to be mutual combatants in this incident.”
USA Today’s report has more details; according to witnesses, Pryor and Briston went out to dinner with another couple and returned to their apartment. There, they began arguing; that argument then took a violent turn.
The Associated Press reports that Pryor is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries. If today’s news is any indication, however, he may be dealing with the consequences of this incident for much longer.
