It’s December 8th. Do you know where your holiday gifts are? We took the liberty of planning your Thursday assuming you don’t. Herewith: eats, drinks and, yes, live reindeer at perhaps the best place in all the Bay to cross all the names off your shopping list.
San Francisco Bazaar
Make your gift-giving as painless as possible by getting it all done in one spot — ideally at this shopping spectacular hosted by the California Academy of Sciences. More than 40 vendors will be on hand to help you get through your shopping. Dads might like Libation Lab. Moms? Alex Brizicky’s ceramics. Let’s just say they have plenty for everybody.
Reindeer Games
That said, don’t plan on shopping for the kids. Reason: they’re coming with, because event organizers somehow managed to bring in live reindeer, and kids really, really, really like reindeer. They’ll also like the Smitten ice cream station, where vendors will be handing out liquid nitrogen-enhanced scoops in an array of flavors. They’ll also be pouring craft beers. So everybody wins.
Space Out
If you’re kid-free — whether for the evening or for life — stay for one of the two planetarium shows (that’s Polar Night Sky at 6:30 and Habitat Earth at 7:30 and 8:30; passes limited). Otherwise, round up the posse and head to Nopalito, a low-key Latin spot in the Inner Sunset. We opt for the Queso Flameado con Chorizo y Nopales (with house-made chorizo) and Alitas Picantes de Pato (spicy duck wings).
