If anything’s going to get us south of Miami between now and whenever they find a vaccine for Zika, it’s absolutely this treehouse suite at the Playa Viva hotel, down the coast from Zihuatanejo.
Basically all you need to know is you’ve got an unobstructed view of the ocean — a view no doubt enhanced by the fact that the sleeping quarters are suspended from the treetops, which are six feet off the ground.
The suite is actually comprised of two levels: the top viewing/sleeping area, which accommodates three, and then a lower area where you’ll find a bathroom and additional living space. Altogether, there’s about 700 square feet of space to play with — which is substantial.
Drawback: There is wifi — but only in a shared common space.
That said, if you’re on Wikipedia while you’re staying here, you’re doing life wrong.
All meals and an airport pick-up are included in the low season rate of $445 a night, which sounds like a pretty good deal to us.
Consider it research for building your own paradise treehouse, on your own stretch of beach, in the future.
