First, the bad news: Maserati’s really, really, ridiculously highly anticipated entrance into the luxury SUV market is still a few months away.
Now, the good news: you can slobber all over these photos of it until that day arrives.
The Levante comes some 90 years after Maserati produced the first vehicle bearings its marque, the eight-cylinder turbo Tipo 26. The spankin’ new SUV has Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With its tapered headlights, streamlined shape and Maserati’s signature trio of front air vents, the Levante looks more like a high-performance sports car than it does an SUV (as we’ve seen from the similarly sporty Porsche Cayenne and Infiniti QX).
The first models have already rolled off the assembly line in Turin, and they should be available stateside later this year.
