In its day, the Nokia 3310 was the Timex of cellphones: they took a licking and kept on ticking.
Then, cellphones? They became mobile phones, and the legendary 3310s were replaced, only to be remembered fondly from time to time by those who were fortunate enough to have played a game of Snake.
We’re happy to announce, courtesy of leaked phone info recovered by Evan ‘EvLeaks’ Blass of VentureBeat, that the 3310 is nearing a return … and hopefully bringing Snake back with it.
Produced by HMD Global, the Finnish manufacturer that now owns the Nokia brand name, the new 3310 will be “a modern version of a classic workhorse of a feature phone” and cost $62.
More info about the phone will be forthcoming at a launch event later this month in Barcelona, but early indications show HMD is “explicitly targeting the European marketplace” with the 3310.
We’re hoping HMD eventually brings the new phones stateside, but if you can’t wait and want to pick up a vintage Motorola Razr in the meantime instead, head to Eureka.
