Making you feel like you’re the most important person in the room is the goal of any customer-oriented business.
It’s also a goal that isn’t very compatible with the restaurant biz.
But one new ocean-side restaurant’s cracked it.
Said restaurant is situated in the midst of a private island and seats exactly one table. At that table, each meal has seven courses — and every single one is catered to each guest’s specific tastes.
And as for the views? Unbeatable.
It’s called Mesa1, and it’s part of the just-opened W Punta de Mita situated on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.
The whole property’s a beaut: Extremely colorful and art-driven. Built around natural springs, Surf-themed. And that’s before you get to the centerpiece: a 450-foot, 750,000-tile walkway that evokes “the Huichol life journey … with the goal to achieve spiritual ascension.”
Some lavish perks, too: VIP cabanas at the pool (replete with fully stocked, self-service bars) and, for nighttime bacchanalia, a 4,460-square-foot suite with a swimming pool that circles around an island-like living room and “can only be accessed by a small wooden bridge above the water.”
All well and good. But about that restaurant …
Mesa1 is dubbing itself “the most exclusive restaurant in the world,” and it fits the bill. Just opened, the restaurant is set on an island in the midst of a spring-fed lake. You arrive (with up to 17 fellow guests of your choosing) via stepping stones that emerge from the water and then disappear once you’re seated.
The restaurant has one seating per day, on a Parota tree trunk that’s been repurposed as a dining table.
Your food? Seven courses, prepped at the table and tailored to each individual.
The property includes a few other delectable dining options as well, including Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Spice Market and Cevicheria, where ceviche and craft beers are served from a converted 1950s Chevy 3800 truck.
Whatever suits your style.
