When South African extreme sports aficionado James Taylor discovered an injured giant squid, he decided the sea creature needed his help.
He soon learned he probably should have thought out his overture better—especially since giant squids can reach 33 feet in length. This seemed less than enthused by Taylor’s presence. In the interaction caught on vidceo, the squid began to wrap its limbs around Taylor’s paddle board, even knocking him off of it in the process.
Taylor wound up intact from the encounter. Unfortunately, the giant squid, which Taylor said was missing some tentacles, later died.
