There’s no denying the synergy between Canadian label Reigning Champ and the running gurus at District Vision. The pair, who originally teamed up in 2019 for an elegant “Radical Retreat” capsule, are back with a triumvirate of sleek eyewear, centered around their shared ethos of quality and performance.
Unlike many of the athleisure and sports-forward brands that peddle flashy, expensive and poorly designed apparel, Reigning Champ and District Vision both tout a refined collection of elite (and often subtle) gear, and their newest joint endeavor proves to be no different. Inspired by Reigning Champ’s passion for the classic sports uniform, the new capsule reworks a trio of seminal District Vision styles. The speedy Junya Racer, oversized Nagata Speed Blade and the classic Keiichi Standard each receive a subtle makeover, sporting the signature navy, black and grey palette that’s functioned as Reigning Champ’s dominant color story since its 2007 inception.
The trio of shades are engineered and developed in Japan, each featuring a titanium core and custom-tinted shatterproof D+ gradient lens designed for varied performance conditions. To meet the elite standards of Reigning Champ and District Vision, the collection was put through extensive wear-testing across cross-country trails, velodrome tracks and city roads by three elite Canadian athletes currently training on the west coast.
Of course, you don’t need to be an Olympian to appreciate Reigning Champ x District Vision’s sporty drop; even removed from the track, Distirct Vision’s eyewear is a certified style flex all on its own, and with a summer o’ sunglasses ahead, picking up a pair for work and play is highly recommended.
