Estimates vary, but some researchers suggest ants can lift up to 5,000 times their own body weight.
The pocket-sized DayLite Hammock isn’t quite that strong, but considering the four-ounce sleeper can support up to 300 pounds, it still punches way above its weightclass. DayLite achieved the hammock’s ridiculous weight — which includes a stuffable carrying sack — by crafting it from cutting-edge Ripstop Robic Nylon, which is super strong and super light.
A weight comes from the 8’ x 3.5’ hammock’s 10-foot polyethylene suspension system and adjustable aluminum cinch buckles, but not really all that much considering polyethylene is stronger than steel but also light enough to float on water.
Already funded on Kickstarter, the hammock and stuff sack can be still be had for just $79. Shipping is $5 in the U.S. and the optional suspension system will run you an extra $20.
Should be a good hang.
