Since Congress just killed Internet privacy (well, it got rid of new-ish regulations, so actually kind of just kept the pretty bad status quo), your browsing history is up for sale.
So bring the noise. A new service called Internet Noise will passively load random sites in your browser tabs.
According to Wired, when you hit the “Make some noise” button, it utilizes Google’s “I’m Feeling Lucky” button to search for the top 4000 nouns on Google, and then opens five tabs based on those results … repeating every ten seconds. Thankfully, you have an option to “Stop the noise.”
While this tab cacophony will confuse ISPs, it will not keep your browsing private (also, you’ll have to turn off your pop-up blocker, as we discovered). The IN site suggests you still do the following:
- Install HTTPS Everywhere to ensure your web activities are encrypted as often as possible
- Donate to the EFF
- Learn about Tor
- Consider using a VPN
- Install Privacy Badger to block spies and hidden trackers from sites you visit.
