Earlier this year, food kit delivery service Purple Carrot made headlines with a line of meal kits curated by Tom Brady featuring gluten-free, 100% plant-based high-protein meals for about $13 a pop.
Healthy? Yes. But no offense to Purple Carrot, we’d rather throw like Tom Brady than eat like him. So we’re going with another meal kit service with Boston ties: BurgaBox. They deliver burgers and other artery-clogging foods unfit for human consumption.
BurgaBox works in the same way other meal kit services operate by delivering ingredients, instructions and everything else a home chefs needs to prepare dishes at home.
What sets BurgaBox — an offshoot of the equally caloric Boston Burger Company — apart from the rest of the meal delivery services is that it doesn’t even pretend to be healthy, choosing instead to offer culinary creations that are worthy of a major league ballpark.
While its menu includes a rotating selection of different burger feasts, it’s the 420 Burger Feast Kit that really has us hummin’: an eight-ounce beef patty topped with mozzarella sticks, fried mac and cheese, onion rings, fries, bacon, golden BBQ sauce and American cheese. The kit also includes the fixins for pepperoni pizza fries, chili mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw.
Says BurgaBox founder Chuck Sillari: “I knew that a lot of the college students visited Boston Burger Company after they smoked weed so I thought it would be funny to create a burger to help with the munchies. We took every food we could think of that someone would want when they had those cravings and placed it on a burger, the works. The name 420 was picked to resonate with that crowd as a sly wink. People who know what it means think it’s great and people who don’t know what it means don’t know.”
Whether you know or not, if you sign up for one of the kits, which start at $65, you may want to invest in some Tums, too.
