On Sept. 14, 2016, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their six children traveled from Nice, France to Burbank, California via private jet, and by the time the plane touched down, the Hollywood A-listers’ marriage was over. (Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt just five days later, citing Sept. 15, the day after the flight, as the first day of their separation.) Now, years later, thanks to details from the FBI report about the couple’s explosive in-flight fight, we have a clearer idea of what happened.

The 53-page FBI report, which has not officially been released but was obtained by several media outlets, contains allegations from Jolie that Pitt verbally and physically assaulted her in front of her children during the flight. (It’s worth noting that Pitt was never charged with any crime following investigations by the FBI and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.)

In the report, Jolie alleges that the dispute started when a drunken Pitt began criticizing her parenting skills. She claimed Pitt accused her of “fucking up the family” and said one of their children (whose name is redacted in the report) “looks like a fucking Columbine kid,” implying they resemble a school shooter and adding, “[Redacted is] gonna kill someone, will you be happy then?” He also allegedly caused $25,000 in damage to the plane.

The couple then reportedly moved to the bathroom in the back of the airplane to continue the argument away from the children. According to Jolie, Pitt then “grabbed her by the head, shaking her, followed by grabbing her at the shoulders and shaking her.” One of the children, hearing the commotion, allegedly asked, “Are you okay, mommy?” to which Pitt replied, “No, Mommy’s not OK. She’s ruining this family. She’s crazy.” At that point, one of the other children said to Pitt, “It’s not her, it’s you, you prick,” and the actor allegedly approached them “like he was going to attack,” prompting Jolie to grab Pitt around the neck “in a choke hold.”

At that point, Pitt allegedly threw himself back to get out of the choke hold and Jolie was pushed into plane seats, resulting in injuries to her back, elbow and hand. The report included pictures of Jolie’s injuries. She also claims he “pushed her twice and wouldn’t let them get off the plane for 20 minutes.” Once they finally got off the plane, Jolie claims he grabbed her arm, then grabbed her “by the head and the shoulders and shook her.”

It all sounds like a nightmare, especially when you consider that their children had to witness it, and it certainly makes Pitt — who is currently promoting his new movie Bullet Train — sound like an abusive asshole. He hasn’t commented about the FBI report yet, but he did recently talk about his decision to get sober after his divorce from Jolie, saying, “I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privilege.”
