Yet another reason to appreciate the great outdoors when we can: it now comes with whisky.
The soon-to-open Glen Luss Distillery will be the first distillery and brewery on the shores of Loch Lomond, located in the heart of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park in Scotland.
As Whisky Advocate notes, the micro-distillery will also function as a brewery and produce gins, flavored vodkas and an assortment of rums. The start-up already has a single malt (made from locally-grown ingredients) in the works.
Glen Luss plans to open in early 2021 and will hopefully become a big attraction for the area’s million-plus visitors. The distillery has already promised to recruit 30 percent of its workforce from within the Luss and Arden Parish. And as part of a sustainability pledge, the company will use some existing infrastructure and help craft a traffic plan to encourage pedestrian use within the park and town.
If you want to be a part of the opening process, the distillery has about a week left in its Founders Club fundraiser, with perks ranging from private tours to owning your own 50L quarter cask.
