Burning the midnight oil just got a little…lazier.
Thanks to Greek design firm NL Studio, your late-night work hours will now be a little more relaxing. And potentially less productive. The firm’s new “1.6 S.M. of Life Desk” is a workstation that breaks down into a hidden bed at night.
Named for its dimensions (2 x .8 meters), NL’s Life Desk champions a design philosophy grounded in utility:
“The combination of functions leads to the emergence of new forms. The exploration of the form comes as a result of emerging needs.”
Translation: you probably need a nap.
The designers were inspired by their former classmates, who they saw pulling chairs together in a library to sneak in a few zzzzs during exam weeks. As for you, office drone? Use it for “siestas … or for a few hours of sleeping at night between deadlines.”
Sadly, the Life Desk — constructed from lacquered wood, metal and white leather — is currently only a prototype. But let it inspire you; there has to be an IKEA hack for this, right?
Sleep on it.
