The Jaguar E-Type is widely considered one of the most, if not the most, beautiful cars ever made. Enzo Ferrari said so. Prince Harry said so. Even Jerry Lewis said so. Which means that any chance they get, Jaguar is going to remind us all that — no matter how relevant they are today — no one can take that away from them.
Today’s reminder comes on the occasion of the E-Type’s 60th anniversary, which is next year. To celebrate, Jaguar just announced it is releasing a limited-edition version of their F-Type R sports car: the Heritage 60 Edition, which will only be built in — what else? — 60 examples.
Of course, any car company can slap some custom badging on a current model and call it an ode to one of their classics, but with the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Heritage 60 the marque is actually pulling out some archival material worth shelling out for: the paint job.
All 60 sports cars, which will be available as convertibles or coupes, will be liveried in Sherwood Green, one of the original E-Type colors that the company notes has not been offered on a new Jaguar since the 1960s. That’s not all that this special edition includes; the upgraded design also features a two-tone Caraway and Ebony Windsor leather interior, exclusive badging that also appears on six E-type 60 Collection vehicles restored for the anniversary, and other details courtesy of SV Bespoke, a facet of Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations.
There are no upgrades to the powertrain, not that you need any. The F-Type R features a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that puts out 575 horsepower and can hit a top speed of 186 mph. And while pricing hasn’t been announced yet, you can expect it to exceed the F-Type R’s starting point of $103,200.
