The New York Yankees have narrowed their managerial search for a successor to Joe Girardi to six candidates, general manager Brian Cashman announced on Friday. The murderer’s row of potential candidates includes former Yankees Aaron Boone, an ESPN analyst, the just-retired Carlos Beltran, Hensley Meulens, now a Giants bench coach and Bombers bench coach Rob Thomson. The field is rounded out by Dodgers third base coach Chris Woodward, former Indians and Mariners manager Eric Wedge. Cashman revealed that he turned to another ex-Yankee star, Alex Rodriguez, for advice during the search.
