Troy Aikman Would Consider Leaving Fox for Front-Office Opportunity

If the opportunity comes his way, Troy Aikman will “take a hard look” at leaving his job with Fox for a front-office job in the NFL.

During an interview with The Doomsday Podcast, the Hall-of-Fame quarterback said he has always had an interest in managing an NFL team and doesn’t consider his gig in the broadcast booth for Fox to be the last job he’ll have.

Aikman, who has been with the network since he retired from the NFL in 2000, has started thinking about life after Fox because his daughters will be heading to college soon, freeing up his schedule.

The 51-year-old knows a front-office opportunity would mean a change of lifestyle and location, and doesn’t expect his chance to come with the Dallas Cowboys (the team he won three Super Bowls with), but wants to give it a shot after seeing how much success ex-QB John Elway has had heading up the Denver Broncos.

“Do I want to continue with broadcasting or maybe get involved with something else? That something else very well may be a front-office opportunity,” Aikman said. “I think it’d be something I’d be really good at it. The challenge of it would be the most compelling part. As a player I had beliefs of how a team should be run, the type of players that would be required.”
