With a 19-yard pass to Sony Michel in the first quarter on Thursday night, Tom Brady moved into No. 2 on the NFL’s all-time passing list, surpassing Peyton Manning and his 71,940 passing yards.

It was a virtual certainty Brady would pass Manning against the Giants on Thursday Night Football as he only needed 18 yards to do it.

Brady, 42, now sits behind only Drew Brees (and his 74,845 yards) on the list.

Though Brady may never pass Brees on the passing list, he’s got a good shot at passing Manning on the all-time touchdown list as his 527 TDs (and counting) are just 12 behind Manning’s 539.

Whether he does or not, there are plenty of records Brady already has:

  • Regular season wins by a starting quarterback (212)
  • Most passing yards, regular season and playoffs (83,102)
  • Most passing touchdowns, postseason included: 600
  • Most touchdowns thrown to different receivers (73)
  • Division titles (16)
  • Playoff games started (40)
  • Playoff wins (30)
  • Playoff touchdown passes (73)
  • Playoff passing yards (11,179)
  • Super Bowl appearances (9)
  • Super Bowl wins (6)
  • Super Bowl MVPs (4)
  • Super Bowl touchdown passes (18)
  • Super Bowl passing yards (2,838)

Those records are nice, but the only one that matters to Brady is this one: 242-70. That’s his current career win/loss record (including the playoffs)

“The name of the game for me has always been winning, and I think that that’s the one that has and always will mean the most,” Brady said of his career record during a Monday interview with Jim Gray. “The goal every week is to go out there and win, and I know some weeks it doesn’t always look as good as others. But the goal of the game is to win, and I’m just proud of our team and all of the accomplishments we’ve had. Winning as often as we have has made my life on Mondays a hell of a lot better. I can hardly deal with the losses, and we haven’t had nearly as many losses as we’ve had wins. So, I deal with the wins a lot better.”
