Though the severity of his injuries is unknown, Tiger Woods is being treated at a hospital in Los Angeles County after sustaining multiple leg injuries in a single-vehicle roll-over accident earlier today.
Following the crash on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Ranchos Palos Verdes, Woods had to be “extricated” from the wreck with the jaws of life. Woods was the only occupant of the vehicle, which sustained major damage.
After Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, Woods was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries and is currently in surgery.
It is unclear what caused the accident and police are investigating, but an LA County Sheriff’s Department source told TMZ Sports it is believed that alcohol was not involved. It was Woods’s agent Mark Steinberg who confirmed Woods sustained multiple leg injuries.
Woods, 45, was in Southern California for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament at the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.
He recently announced that back surgery could keep him out of playing in the upcoming Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Should his injuries be as severe as they sound, it seems unlikely he will be playing in that tournament or any other PGA event in the near future.
Hopefully, that’s not the case and Woods is able to make a full recovery, even if he can’t return to the course. More updates to follow …
