On Monday Night Football, it was fitting that the last game of an NFL week that was filled with missed kicks was decided by a couple of field goals.
The first was an overtime miss by San Francisco rookie kicker Chase McLaughlin, who had drilled his first three field goals after being signed earlier in the week including a make that sent the game to overtime.
Woooowwwwwwww the moment was too big for the new kicker for #49ers as that was shanked horribly to the left as #Seahawks take over #MNF #SEAvsSF pic.twitter.com/gKkIYFpy0c

The second was a 42-yard boot off the leg of Seattle kicker Jason Myers that handed the 49ers their first loss of the season and gave the Seahawks a 27-24 victory on Monday night in San Fran.

Prior to overtime, both defenses were dominant and each scored a defensive touchdown and generated three takeaways apiece. The 49ers got another turnover in overtime, intercepting Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson at the 4-yard line and setting up McLaughlin’s overtime miss.

With the win, the Seahawks move to 8-2 on the season and are now breathing down the necks of San Francisco (8-1) in the NFC West.
Though he did make some plays, San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo looked like a liability at times and easily have been intercepted more than once. Sacked five times, Garoppolo completed just 24-of-46 passes for 248 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
His counterpart, Wilson, wasn’t that much better (24-of-34, 232 yards, one touchdown) but did come up with a key 18-yard scramble on a third-and-3 in overtime that set up Myers for the game-winning field goal.
“We practice these situations every day,” said Seattle left tackle Duane Brown. “Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in the league. When you have him under center, I don’t care how much time is on the clock. We feel like we have a chance.”
The 49ers will take on the Cardinals in Week 11 and the Seahawks will face the Eagles in Week 12 following their bye.
