UPDATE: Durant has issued a non-apology apology for the profane messages he sent to Rapaport.
From burner accounts to beefs, Kevin Durant’s issues with Twitter have been well-documented at this point.
That’s why it really isn’t all that much of a surprise that the Brooklyn Nets superstar is back in the news for what he’s doing on social media, courtesy of a back-and-forth he had with actor-turned-podcaster Michael Rapaport.
In a series of messages that were sent over the course of a few months, Durant used homophobic, misogynistic and vulgar language toward the actor and seemed to take what started out as joking around to a whole new level.
Here’s a portion of how Rapaport, who didn’t show many of his own comments, documented everything on Twitter for the world to see.
As is fairly obvious by now, Durant should get off of social media and focus his energy on getting back on the basketball court by rehabbing the hamstring strain that has kept him sidelined for a month and a half. In the meantime, the NBA may very well take punitive action against him for his comments; both Rajon Rondo and Kobe Bryant are among players who have been fined for using gay slurs in the past.
That being said, it is worth noting that Rapaport, in the midst of pointing out how he was being threatened and mentioning his wife’s involvement in the situation, also brought up that a new episode of his podcast was out.
The now very publicized spat probably won’t hurt his ratings.
