The sun will rise, the IRS will collect taxes … and the New England Patriots will be favored to win the Super Bowl.

In what has seemingly become an annual occurrence, the Patriots (as of June 25) were installed as 6-1 favorites to win the Super Bowl by oddsmakers at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, the best odds of any team in the league.

Following the Pats are the team that beat them in the Super Bowl last season, the Philadelphia Eagles at 10-1. That number might seem low considering Philly won it all last year and will be welcoming injured quarterback Carson Wentz back into the fold, but the Eagles will be facing better competition in their division this year and also have added expectations and pressure to deal with as compared to last season.

Interestingly enough, the Westgate Las Vegas has a trio of teams tied with the Eagles at 10-1. They would be the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers.

For the Vikings, the rationale is they were a game away from reaching the Super Bowl last year and the addition of franchise Kirk Cousins will push them over the top.

For the Rams, the thinking is Los Angeles has upgraded its already stingy defense and added enough explosive offensive pieces that LA may have one of the most well-balanced teams in the NFL. If QB Jared Goff continues to grow, watch out.

With Pittsburgh, the hope is Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and Le’Veon Bell will all finally stay healthy and be able to lead the Steelers past the Patriots back to the Super Bowl.

Behind those teams are the Green Bay Packers at 14-1, Los Angeles Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, and Jacksonville Jaguars at 16-1, and the New Orleans Saints at 18-1.
