The F-bomb heard around the world of basketball has now landed the NBA’s most famous reporter in hot water. Following his “Fuck you.” response to an email by Missouri Senator Josh Hawley, Adrian Wojnarowski will not be going to the league’s Orlando bubble, as ESPN has suspended him without pay, according to The New York Post.

The news that Wojnarowski had been suspended first broke on Saturday night, and led to NBA players tweeting out the #FreeWoj hashtag in support of the league’s most famous scoops master. Among the players to use the hashtag were Los Angeles Clippers sixth man Lou Williams, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie, and Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter:

The drama started when Hawley tweeted out a screenshot of Wojnarowski emailing the aforementioned “Fuck you.” in response to an email about how the league supposedly “kowtowed” to Beijing in the controversy that began with Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeting out support for Hong Kong protesters.

The 51-year-old ESPN reporter quickly apologized on Twitter, calling the email a “regrettable mistake.”

That appears to not have been enough to settle the matter internally, and so now ESPN will be without its main NBA reporter as the season kicks back up in Orlando later this month. There’s no information on when Wojnarowski’s suspension is slated to end at the moment, and the network declined to comment to the Post about further details.
