One half of the difficult duo former NFL punter Pat McAfee has referred to as “the tag team of insufferabilty” on his show, Jackson Mahomes is apparently upset with the way he is being covered by the press and blames the media and news for “destroying” his life.
At least that’s what he indicated in an anti-media post that he shared on, well, social media.
Jackson, who has been trying to make it as a TikTok star by riding on the coattails of his older brother Patrick and often posts videos with his big bro’s fiancée Brittany Matthews (the other half of “the tag team of insufferabilty”), has recently been in the news for allegedly scamming a food retailer out of some exotic snacks, and it was rumored he was banned from attending Chiefs games. (That is not actually the case.) It also appeared like Jackson was not at Patrick’s recent bachelor party in Las Vegas based on photos that were taken of the well-documented event.
Also, despite not being an NFL player, Jackson recently wound up on the NFL’s “Most Hated” list following a study of Twitter during the month of December. “The study was conducted by analyzing keyword associations on Twitter, including negative phrases such as ‘I hate Aaron Rodgers’ or ‘Antonio Brown sucks,’” per The Star-Telegram. “More than a million tweets in December were used to come up with the semi-scientific study.”
Only known to football fans for being related to his Super Bowl-winning brother, Jackson ranked sixth on the list with more than 75,000 negative posts on Twitter. To her credit, Matthews came in 17th with more than 10,000.
So where does it all end? It’s a legitimate question that McAfee offered an answer to on his show.
“It’s going to be a long off-season for those two, I think,” McAfee said in reference to Jackson and Matthews. “I think there’s going to be some personal growth this off-season. And this is not just about Patrick losing in the AFC Championship. I wonder if we will see the same tag team duo off the field around the Mahomes family next season as we saw this season? I would take a strong guess at no. Just a strong guess at no. I might be wrong. I mean, there is just a lot of stuff, but I think next season, we’ll see a very different group.”
Part of the reason that things may change with the dynamic between Matthews and Jackson is that the latter is moving to Los Angeles this summer.
Like much of what Jackson does, that announcement was mocked.
