Knowing you’re in the safest hands in the sky makes traveling that much more enjoyable.
And thanks to the annual report from AirlineRatings.com, consumers can be fully informed when choosing which to fly, according to CNN. At the top of the list for 2019 is, once again, Australian carrier Qantas, which held the ranking from 2014 to 2017 and tied in 2018.
“Qantas was a clear winner given its industry leadership in safety innovation,” the site’s editor-in-chief, Geoffrey Thomas, told the news network.
Data from 405 airlines was analyzed by the ratings site before a list of the top 20 was compiled. Twelve different criteria — including audits from governments, aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations, fleet age and crash and serious incident minimums — had to be successfully met.
The remaining top 19 were listed alphabetically instead of by ranking. They include Air New Zealand, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Hawaiian Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, United Airlines and Virgin.
