Netflix’s Our Souls at Night is bringing Academy Award-winners Robert Redford and Jane Fonda back together again.
The film is based on a book by Ken Haruf. It centers around two widowed neighbors who unexpectedly fall in love. Based in Colorado, the story begins when Addie Moore (Fonda) visits her neighbor, Louis Waters (Redford). Both had lost their spouses years ago and had been neighbors for decades. Hollywood Reporter write that they “seek to establish a connection and make the most of the rest of the time they have.”
This will be the fourth onscreen collaboration between Redford and Fonda. Their first pairing was back in 1966, when they played a married couple in The Chase. Their last film together was the 1979 movie The Electric Horseman.
The movie was directed by Ritesh Batra and the script was written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Other cast members include Bruce Dern, Matthias Schoenaerts, Judy Greer, and Iain Armitage.
The film is set to be released on Netflix and in select theaters on Sept. 29.
