Every year, Fortune ranks the most influential young people in business. The list includes disruptors, innovators, “rebels and artists,” writes Fortune. This year, the top slot goes to Kevin Systrom, the co-founder, and CEO of Instagram. The app has been on the upswing for awhile, but this year, it crossed the billion-user mark, introduced a new video streaming feature and is reportedly worth $100 billion. Systrom, 34, personally had a big year: he became a father and first-level Master Sommelier.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, is number two on the list. The 34-year-old got through countless controversies this year, but despite it all, Facebook continues to make billions in online advertising revenues, sending the stock higher than ever.
Number three is a joint win for Lyft’s Logan Green and John Zimmer, both 34. Green is the co-founder and CEO of the ride-hailing service and Zimmer is the co-founder and president. The duo are two of the most successful entrepreneurs of the past decade. Lyft has benefited from Uber’s troubles, and over the past year, Lyft’s valuation has doubled to $15 billion.
Others on the list include Rihanna, who launched both a much-anticipated cosmetics line and a lingerie brand this year; Donald Glover, who has made waves both with hit songs and hit TV shows; Jennifer Hyman, co-founder and CEO of Rent the Runway, who is valued more than $700 million; and Brian Chesky, co-founder, CEO and head of community of Airbnb.
