One of the most iconic cars in cinematic history — the Aston Martin DB5 from James Bond’s Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, Skyfall and Spectre— is getting an upgrade.
Based off the 1964 original, the updated car is the brainchild of Aston Martin and EON productions, the company that produces the Bond films. A total of 25 vehicles will be manufactured for the public, and they all feature functioning gadgets — including revolving number plates, according to Mashable.
The pricetag? A cool $3.5 million, plus taxes.
“The connection between Aston Martin and James Bond is something of which we are very proud and it is remarkable that the DB5 remains the definitive James Bond car after so many years,” Andy Palmer, President and CEO of Aston Martin, said in a statement, according to Mashable.
“To own an Aston Martin has long been an aspiration for James Bond fans, but to own a Silver Birch DB5, complete with gadgets and built to the highest standards in the very same factory as the original James Bond cars? Well, that is surely the ultimate collectors’ fantasy.”
