Adam Sandler is going back to his “SNL” roots.
The comedian will return to the show that made him famous for his first hosting gig, Variety reported.
Sandler will make his hosting debut on May 4, accompanied by musical guest Shawn Mendes.
“We are happy to welcome Adam back to ‘SNL’ in what is sure to be a special night,” said the show’s executive producer Lorne Michaels.
Sandler got his start on the show as a writer back in 1990. He joined the cast the following year, where his colorful characters and memorable musical numbers made him a household name by the time he left the show in 1995. Some of his most famous performances from the era include his portrayal of the effusive Opera Man, weary husband Hank Gelfand, and the infamous “Chanukah Song.”
Sandler’s latest stand-up special, “100% Fresh,” is currently streaming on Netflix, and his latest project, an upcoming film titled Murder Mystery, in which he will star alongside Jennifer Aniston and Gemma Arterton is due out later this year. Sandler previously collaborated with Aniston back in 2011, when the two costarred in the box office hit Just Go With It.
Mendes’ appearance will mark his second stint as the show’s musical guest since first gracing the stage back in 2016.
