Paul McCartney paid a visit to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote his new album McCartney III, and while the pair discussed the former Beatle’s collaboration with Kanye West and another potential one with Bob Dylan that sadly “fizzled out,” it was revealed that Fallon himself once reached out to McCartney about working together on some songs, thanks to a little liquid courage.
“I don’t know if you remember, you once sent me a couple of ideas you had for songs,” McCartney told Fallon. “You did. And I’m still feverishly looking for them because they were good. I lost them, but they were good.”
“Not that good,” he quickly clarified.
“I had a few beverages I believe before, and I said, ‘I should send you these songs,’ and the next day I go, ‘What are you talking about? You can’t send Paul McCartney songs!’” Fallon admitted. “But I figured why not, you know me enough, you could always tell me, ‘Hey, dude, thanks a lot, I got ’em, happy Christmas.’”
“If I can ever find those tracks, we could do something together,” McCartney teased, before smirking and adding, “But I’m not sure I’m going to be able to find them, that’s the problem.”
