With live music still largely on pause until the COVID-19 vaccine becomes more widely available to the general public, those who work behind the scenes to make concerts happen are still dealing with a massive financial blow. To help ease the burden a little bit, artists like Billie Eilish, Wilco, My Morning Jacket and more have teamed up with Yeti to design and auction off custom coolers for the benefit of out-of-work roadies and venue crews.
Proceeds from the One for the Roadies campaign, which began on Jan. 5 and concludes on Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. EST will benefit Crew Nation, a relief fund established by Live Nation that helps workers in the live music industry who have been impacted financially by the pandemic. Yeti will match all funds raised up to $100,000.
The auction features coolers custom-designed and filled with merch by over 30 artists, including the Beastie Boys, Tenacious D, Shepard Fairey, Tanya Tucker, Phoebe Bridgers, Mavis Staples, Little Big Town, Brittany Howard, Brandi Carlile, Finneas, Jon Batiste, Grace Potter, Fleet Foxes, the Head and the Heart, the Decemberists and others.
This is actually the second round of Yeti’s One for the Roadies campaign. The first round — which took place in August and included artists like Chris Stapleton, Green Day and The National — raised over $135,000 for out-of-work live music crews.
