We’ve finally got a taste of what Tom Brady’s post-football career entails, and it’s perhaps a bit unexpected. The former quarterback is officially going Hollywood, producing and appearing in a football-themed road trip movie called 80 for Brady.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’ll be joined by stars Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field in the comedy, which will be directed by Kyle Marvin, who also co-wrote the script with Michael Covino. The movie is reportedly inspired by a true story and will follow “four best friends and New England Patriots fans who take a life-changing trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their quarterback hero, Tom Brady, play and the chaos that ensues as they navigate the wilds of the biggest sporting event in the country.” (Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno and Field will play the four best friends.)
Brady will produce via his production company 199 Productions and, according to the publication, was “deeply involved with the inception of the project, developing it with Donna Gigliotti and Endeavor Content.” Production on the film is slated to begin this spring.
80 for Brady won’t be Brady’s first appearance on the silver screen, however. In 2015, he appeared as himself in Ted 2.
